kranium, cranium

Description:
Cranium with mandible of Young adult Female. No obvious decorations present that is distinguishable from taphonomic modifications. Skull is a relatively uniform tan-yellow in color (slightly darker brownish-red on the maxilla and occipital) and relatively clean, with very little adhering soil, soil wash, or other organic residue, and very few roots. Both zygo arches, the anterior maxillary alveolus, edges of the nasal sill, and both lacrimae are lost or damaged postmortem. A few small pits observable in the occipital near foramen magnum. They are isolated and appear to be postmortem. No obvious trauma. Osseous pathology possible present via slight visible pitting and corrosion in both mandibular fossa (but could be taphonomic). In situ teeth are moderately worn but lack caries or abcesses, and the alveolar margin is relatively intact with only very minor pitting or recession. Score 1-2 calc seen on most teeth. lLPM2 is glued in backwards. rUM1, both LM1s show postmortem enamel loss and rUC broken off at CEJ. Anterior max alveolus missing, preventing some measurements. Maxilla: Wear prevents scoring some traits. Mandible: Some teeth in incorrect position. Moderate molar wear.
