- Description:
- Calcareous coral species, forming large, rounded or turtled colonies. The corals are conical and the septa are irregular and spaced. Viu is pale brown, gray or greenish brown. It is widespread in the Indo-Pacific region from the Red Sea to the Marshall Islands and Samoa. It is one of the most abundant species of the genus, but also one of the most variable. The copy is part of the old collection, purchased by Grigore Antipa from 1897-1898, from Gustav Schneider, Swiss taxidermist and custodian of the Zoological Instit of the University of Basel.
