Hammond Lumber Company, Humbolt County. View showing grading tables at tail of mill. Redwood and Douglas fir lumber. Mill situated at Samoa, California, across the bay from Eureka. It is a triple band mill with sash and door factory in connection. Manufactures from 70-80 million ft. of lumber per year. Employs 400 men. May 18, 1915

Stand of Sitka spruce in depression among sand dunes. Beach pine (Pinus contorta) shown in northwest corner. Spruce on ocean side are dead from encroachment of dunes. Bay side of stand is practically pure beach pine fringed with willow. Samoa, Humboldt County. 5/27/15
