The LOS ANGELES class Attack Submarine USS TUCSON (SSN 770) glides past the mouth of Apra Harbor, Guam. The attack submarine has twelve launch missile tubes for Tomahawk cruise missiles to provide defense capabilities and retractable bow planes to give the vessel increased maneuverability. With it's stealth design, endurance, and mobility the TUCSON is able to operate in all ocean areas of the world. U.S. Navy CAPT. Leo Goff, Commanding Officer, L.Y. Spear Class Submarine Tender USS FRANK CABLE (AS 40), prepares to accept an American flag on behalf of the family of Machinery Repairman Fireman (MRFN) Jack Valentine during a memorial service held in the chapel on Naval Base Guam on Dec. 10, 2006. MRFN Valentine died on Dec. 8 at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX, from injuries sustained during a Dec. 1 boiler explosion aboard the Guam based submarine tender.
