U.S. Navy CAPT. Leo Goff, Commanding Officer, L.Y. Spear Class Submarine Tender USS FRANK CABLE (AS 40), prepares to accept an American flag on behalf of the family of Machinery Repairman Fireman (MRFN) Jack Valentine during a memorial service held in the chapel on Naval Base Guam on Dec. 10, 2006. MRFN Valentine died on Dec. 8 at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX, from injuries sustained during a Dec. 1 boiler explosion aboard the Guam based submarine tender. The flag will be hand delivered to Valentine's family by USN CAPT. Leo Goff, the ship's commanding officer.
