Men's hat with hatband made from pupu shells, tapered on the front woven from kaka'o, (fernland reed, Miscanthus floridulus) There is a hat band made from red, white and black shells secured to the brim. 26 of 27 Hats collected by anthropologist Donald S Marshall from the island of Mangaia in the Cook Islands.
