- Sumgilbar LLG of Sumkar District in Madang is already facing challenges with climate change and rising sea level and mining sand from its coastline will only worsen the impacts. Director of the Piku Biodiversity Network, Yolarnie Amepou, explained that the shorelines act as a buffer protecting the land and the people from storms.
