Foreigners Guilty
- Description:
- 27 expatriates who were nabbed in a special task force operation for cockfighting in the Sumo-mini area outside Vanimo were found guilty by the Vanimo district court last Friday. The 27 – mostly from Malaysia and Indonesia were found guilty for animal cruelty under section 95-B and 6 of the Animal Act, and illegal gambling under section 51 of the Gaming Act 2007. They are now facing deportation and will be transferred to the Bomana Immigration Centre. Meanwhile Immigration and Citizenship Authority Joint Task Force Coordinator John Bria says the Government encourages foreign investments, however expats must follow PNG laws and regulations in order for them to do business in the country. The 27 will be handed over to the detention and removal team of the ICA and will be deported once their conviction certificates are processed
