- Postcard featuring the newly constructed school building, students, and teacher. Recto: "Pitcairn Island's government school building was constructed in 1948-49. School teachers come from New Zealand for a two-year term. Here Russell Henry stands with his pupils whose surnames are Christian, Young, Brown, Clark, and Warren. Education, including uniforms, is free and is compulsory from ages 5 to 15. Local education ends at high school level; government-sponsored higher education is available in New Zealand or Fiji."
