["Another title: View of the Gulf of Guayaquil", "El Chimborazo, [1789-1794]", "Otro título: Vista del Golfo de Guayaquil"]

Description:
Summary: View of the entrance of the corvettes in the estuary of Guayaquil. First, on the left, the typical raft of Guayaquil stands out; at the bottom the coast and between clouds, and behind the mountains, appears the snow-capped summit of Chimborazo, a volcano located northwest of Riobamba, in Ecuador. Drawing made during the Malaspina expedition, which took place between 1789 and 1794. Commander Alejandro Malaspina lead the expedition organized by the Spanish crown to tour his American possessions, according to a plan presented by the sailor himself. The material gathered is scattered in different institutions of Spain, England, Argentina and Chile. It is attributed to the Italian artist Fernando Brambila, who made numerous views of Guam, Philippines, Macau, Vavao, Peru, Chile and Argentina.
