- Description:
- Dancing mask consisting of a frame of the leaf ribs of the coconut palm coated with bark fabric. The baby fabric is coated with a paste/cap extracted from the parianarium nut and then modelled to create facial features. The face is colored black with thin white lines that probably represent marks of scar tattoos. Cut pieces of wood serve as ears. At the top of the mask is a plant fiber tassel. The mask is in poor condition. Masks like this were often worn at festivities at harvest festivals.
