kranium, cranium
- Description:
- Cranium with mandible of Young adult Male. Decoration limited to an area of light-medium red pigment staining on the frontal at bregma. Two small patches of hair remain in-situ on the occipital. Skull is a relatively uniform light tan color but stained and mottled in places. Some staining is from pigment, the majority is darker organic residue, lighter grey soil, or a darker red-purple discoloration on the occipital and right temporal, probably due to soil mineral staining. Remaining teeth stained postmortem by soil and residue. Rootlets present in nasal cavity; adhering soil in left orbit. Mandibular posterior border shows polishing. No obvious trauma. Possible pathology limited to pronounced pitting of the periosteal surface of the right posterior parietal. Teeth are minimally worn, stained but with no visible caries, very minimal periodontal pitting, no alveolar regression. Maxilla:. Mandible:
