Description:
Cranium with mandible of Young adult Male. Minimal decoration, limited to the dark red staining on the right fronto-parietal and zygo mentioned in the taphonomy table (unclear as to its origins). Small patch of lighter red residue or pigment on left mastoid near suture as well. Labial surface of left max canine is stained betel black, but no other teeth are. Skull is intact with postmortem bone loss limited to small fenestrations in the maxillary alveolus. Skull is a slightly mottled light tannish-white, with a slightly darker mandible and darker patches, but very little residual soil. Roots present in both orbitals, sphenoid and basicranium and endocranially. A large patch of the right fronto-temporal region and right zygomatic are stained a dark red with lighter reddish-brown staining elsewhere on maxilla and left zygo. Light polishing on the posterior mandibular border. Minor pitting or shallow cutting elsewhere on right parietal, of unknown etymology. Trauma is limited to a small button osteoma and a possible small healed antemortem BFT on lateral mid-frontal, right side. If so, this trauma did not penetrate both cranial tables. No obvious osseous pathology. Dental pathology limited to minimal calculus, notable periodontal pitting on both sides of the posterior maxillary alveolus. Maxilla:. Mandible:
