Description:
Cranium with mandible of Young adult Female (?). Decoration limited to two loops of dried frond or reed, tied one each around both zygomatic arches. Areas of the cranium show deep red staining, but this is not certain to be due to decoration. Skull is relatively clean with minimal soil and no visible roots. Mottled coloring with areas of deep red and other areas of lighter red mixed with tannish-brown. Postmortem breaking limited to slight max anterior alveolus damage. Small spots of surface spalding in many areas revealing lighter bone. Teeth stained but not blackened. Small areas of organic residue (possibly decomposed wood) on right zygo and mastoid. No obvious trauma or pathology. Calculus relatively minimal, alveolar margin intact with no significant periodontitis related pitting. LEH not assessable due to the relevant teeth lost postmortem. Noticeable thinning of right orbital roof. Small bone spur midway along medial edge of posterior left ramus. Maxilla: Mandibular premolars glued into the maxilla. Mandible:
