Description:

Cranium with mandible of Mature adult Male. Flecks of ochre colored and brighter reddish-pink material on right mastoid and zygo in among tissue and preserved organic residues. Right orbital margin also stained reddish brown. Skull relatively uniform tan-yellow in color where bone is exposed, but also heavily stained in many areas with black, white and brown organic residue (possibly wood and/or soot), and preserved tissue still adhering in the orbits, nasal, zygos, and basicranium. Adhering soil especially on the maxilla, sphenoid, basicranium, ear canals, and teeth (staining separate from calc), is medium-light grey, but traces of dark grey-black soil also present. Light handling/storage polishing on mandibular border. Very few roots. Very large clump of soil or possibly dural matter preserved endocranially, still connected to endocranial surface by roots or dried tissue. No obvious trauma or osseous pathology. Remaining teeth are stained but show minimal calc, relatively little occlusal wear. LEH can not be accurately assessed. Minor periodontal pitting especially in left maxillary molar crypts. Maxilla:.
