Inv.47.29. Wooden lollipop from the Fidji Islands, Metallfish from Africa (?) Purchased in Lundgren’s antique trade, Stockholm Inv.47.29. 1. Club. Made of dark wood. The “head” consists of two parts, one turned out as a sharp horn, the other heavier part with on both sides inclined patterns. The head has some resemblance to a rifle piston, and the shape of the club in its entirety recalls a firearm. The round shaft is adorned with a wickerwork in black and natural grass paint. The club is not only a combat weapon, but was also used as a dance tool at the men’s dances. Length 1 m. 6.5 cm. The Fiji Islands. See Dr. G. Busank’s “Illustrierte Völkerkunde.” 2. Fish. Made of brass. Hollow with perforated patterns. Up to a lid intended to be capable of being locked, the wild game indicates, that the fish was probably used to be something outside.
