Nosepiece
- Description:
- In the Central Mountain region of Papua New Guinea, jewelry is also worn in the nose and ears. These are pierced at a young age and voluntarily, and are not connected with initiation or any other ritual. After the nose is pierced, the pin remains in the wound. With this, the hole can be enlarged by turning it daily until it has become large enough to carry larger ornaments in the nose.
