Red Paradise Bird

Description:
Rare species of bird of paradise spread in the south and northeast of New Guina. It was discovered by Count Luigi Maria D 'Albertis and the name of the species was given in honor of Marquis Francesco Raggi, his friend, and that of the subspecies in honor of the Empress of Germany, Augusta Victoria de Schleswig-Holstein. It is included on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species and in CITES Annex II. The copy is part of the old collection, purchased by Grigore Antipa from 1898-1907.
