- Description:
- Indo-Pacific species, spread from the Red Sea, the east coast of Africa to the Samoa Islands and from northern Australia to northern Japan. Live under stones, in coral reefs. The color of the shell varies within the species with several varieties described. From East Africa (Zanzibar) we know the largest and most beautiful specimens of this species. The copy is part of the lot donated in 1979 by the head of the Department of Invertebrate Zoology, Prof. J. Y. Liu, from the Institute of Oceanology Sinica Academy. He arrived in the mollusc collections of the museum as a result of the requests made by the acad. Mihai Bacescu to various institutions following the destruction earthquake of 4 March 1977.
