Tropical species, spread from eastern Indian Ocean to western Pacific Ocean, from Malacca Strait to Samoa and from northern Australia to Japan. Live in the subtidal area, shallow, in coral reefs. At the reflux they stand under stones and rocks, feed on algae. The song is part of the lot donated in 1979 by the head of the Department of Invertebrate Zoology, Prof. J. Y.
