SPREP Greening the XVI Pacific Games : the Clean-up

Description:
Over 1000 volunteers came on 25 May to cleanup the rivers of Apia before the Samoa Independence Celebrations. The initiative saw 18,624 kilos of rubbish removed from the Fuluasou, Gasegase, Loimata o Apaula River (Mulivai), and Vaisigano Rivers. This included an estimated 3,713 sanitary items such as tissues and nappies, an estimated 7,738 plastic bottles, and eventually a wrecked car.
