Test Able, July 1, 1946

Description:
Test Able, the first atomic bomb test in Bikini Atoll during Operation Crossroads. With a yield of 21 kilotons this bomb was dropped by plane to test the effects of atmospheric explosion. Detonated at approximately 9:00 A.M. Bikini time at an altitude of 520 feet, July 1, 1946. Caption on slide mount: Able. Bikini July 1, 1946 Marshall Islands - Bikini Atoll
