- A view from the shore at Papeete, with the Maunganui, Rigault de Genouilly, a yacht and other small boats in the harbour, along with a few people including ship personnel, on land. Hills are in the background. Part of a series of photographs taken when the Maunganui (Union Steamship Company) took a three weeks' holiday cruise to the Society Islands, Samoa and Tonga, with around 250 tourists aboard. The vessel left from Auckland on 7 July and arrived back in Auckland on 29 July.
