A pacific Island colony of France: an interesting camera record of a recent visit to the society group

Description:
The society Islands, belonging to France, are situated North of the Cook Group, on the steamer route from Wellington to San Francisco. The principal island of the group is Tahiti on which is Papeete, the capital of French possessions in those parts. This photographs were secured by Pastor A.G. Stewart, vice president of the Australian Union Congress of Seventh Day Adventists, who returned from a visit to missions in the group. 1. The Royal Mail liner Makura arriving at Papeete en route San Francisco to Wellington and Sydney. 2. The palm fringed shores of the island of Tahaa. 3. Looking along the coast between Papeete and Point Venus, Tahiti. 4. Typical Tahitian women. 5. The trading schooner Potii Raiatea leaving the island of Raiatea during voyage around the society group. 6. A holiday cottage set amid luxurious tropical growth on Tahiti Island. 7. The beautiful view from the front door of Tahiti residence of Robert Keable, the noted writer. 8. A native outrigger sailing canoe on the coast of Tahiti.
