Fatal rioting reported from Samoa: the waterfront at Apia, where the trouble occurred

- A riot occurred in Apia, Western Samoa, on Saturday morning, 28th December 1929. A large number of the Mau came into the town to welcome Messrs. Smyth and Hall Skelton and paraded with a number of men wanted by the police, who tried to arrest some of the men wanted. The natives resisted and serious fighting followed. Two Mau natives and a white constable were killed, while thirty natives and two constables were injured. Six natives, including the High Chief Tamasese later succumbed to their wounds.
