Close up of the back of the recipient (Moana) and his pe’a, the traditional male tatau of Samoa (also known as malofie) which covers the body from the waist to the knees. The tufuga ta tatau’s (master tatooist) head can be seen and his hand which marks the skin (lines) as a guide with ink as to where to permanently mark the tatau. This shot is not part of a scene.
