Tanoa

Description:
Tanoa. A large yaqona (kava) bowl carved from solid kau (wood) with four yava (legs) and one bito (lug) on the underside. The bito has two drilled holes through which a leather cord is threaded through. The interior of the bowl is cracked and yellowed from previous yaqona use. Chipping is visible on the rim of the bowl. The underside of the tanoa has holes due to insect bore.
