- Pulou. Hat. This pulou is made primarily of lau fā (pandanus leaf) that has not been dyed and is a natural light brown in colour. The lau fā has been cut into thin strips which have then been constructed using the lalaga (weaving) technique to form the body of the pulou beginning at the centerpoint of the crown and extending out and down to the papaki (brim).
