- Te vene. Carrying strap. This example of a vene is made using the fibres from the full side of lau kie (peeled and coloured pandanus leaf), which can be strong and sturdy as well as pliable to weave. The fibres are braided in a flat 3-ply braid with accents of dyed lau kie, orange in colour. At one end the vene is finished in a narrowing braid. The vene has been wound into a flat coiled disk.
