- Kato. Basket. Small oval shaped coiled basket. This kato has a tu'aniu (coconut midrib) interior, which is coiled and wrapped and bound with strips of lou akau (pandanus). It is oval in shape, surface of the pandanus is shiny so it gives the kato a lightly polished look.
