Fao'a

Description:
Fao'a. Stone adze. This Fao'a (adze) is worked from grey volcanic ofa'i (stone). It is quadrangular in section with a shallow bevel and no shoulder. It has a blunt cutting edge overall surface is pecked and unpolished. Darker colour tones are visible on the blade. No reduction towards the butt and poll which are left pecked. The poll is rounded at its end.
