Fishery resource are vitally important to Fiji. They are significant to the country in terms of food security, employment and exports - in addition to their recreational and social attributes. Fiji has a wide range of fishery resources, including finfish, invertebrates and plants. By one estimate, over 350 species are harvested in Fiji.
