This session will explore the management and application of water quality parameters in the case of New Caledonia and Fiji outlining the difficulties, successes and practical application to other similar situations around the Pacific. It will explore widely how and what a freshwater health index can be applied to the Pacific Islands its suitability and sustainability. How to interpret the data in terms of conservation status and learning from traditional knowledge and the use of new approaches and technologies to respond to emerging pressures such as climate change and pandemics.
