I was stationed on a radio base station for Western Geophysical Ltd. in Oct.-Dec. 1987 with another base station operator. WesternGeCo were shooting siesmic in the Gulf of Papua for a British oil exploration company. Radio base stations were used for the precise positioning of the siesmic vessels at that time. Pre-GPS. We with our equipment were flown from Pt. Moresby to Balimo in Twin Otters, and then by Jet Ranges to Korimoro Pt. We were an approx. 2hr walk from Maipani Village.
