Alfred A. Schlegel Relaxes with His Dog

Schlegel, shown here relaxing with his dog, was a prisoner of war for 1,371 days. He will receive one dollar for each of those days spent in confinement, one of the largest prisoner of war payments made in Minnesota. Schlegel was captured December 10, 1941, on the island of Guam.
