This thesis presents a comparative critical discourse analysis of the contemporaneous coverage in the New Caledonian written press of three significant cultural events: the M{u00E9}lan{u00E9}sia 2000 festival in 1975, the inauguration of the Centre Culturel Tjibaou in 1998 and the Mw{u00E2} K{u00E2} initiative from 2003 to 2005.
