- Some of the people escaping the violence in the Solomon Islands arrived in Australia on chartered flights last night with harrowing stories of their experiences. One ethnic Chinese businessman told how he feared for his life and that of his wife and young son, as a mob looted and burnt down the business next door, before trying to break into his shop. And his wife has fears for two young children who she suspects perished in the fires that swept through the Chinatown area.
