Howard over-reacting on Kokoda mine: PNG
- Description:
- John Howard's determination to scupper the mine project may have been delivered to Papua New Guinea in strong terms, but it's been called an overreaction by the Government in Port Moresby. Mines Minister Sam Akoitai has told the Australian Government that Papua New Guinea is quite capable of looking after its own affairs when it comes to mining. And Mr Akoitai said the preservation of the Kokoda Track would be considered in any case because of its importance to both countries.
