Pacific islands devastated by tsunami
- Description:
- The death toll from the tsunami which struck the Samoan Islands yesterday is expected to rise. Three Australians have been confirmed dead and grave concerns are held for one other. Six are unaccounted for, and another six in hospital. The tsunamis, generated by a large earthquake deep below the Pacific, battered Samoa where hospital workers said it killed at least 84 people. American Samoa's death toll is 22 and Tonga says at least seven people died there.
