Australia sends rescue teams to PNG ferry disaster
- Description:
- There are fears that as many as 150 people are missing after a ferry sank off the north coast of Papua New Guinea yesterday. At least 200 people were rescued from the water after the Japanese built ferry sank in waters between Kimbe and Lae. Locals stoned the office of the shipping company agent that owns the ferry because it couldn't provide details of who was on board. Kevin Rudd says Australian aircraft have been dispatched to help with the rescue effort.
