PNG gas pipeline plans scrapped

- It was first proposed in the mid 1990s, but after more than a decade of development, plans for a gas pipeline from Papua New Guinea to Australia have been scrapped. The multi-billion dollar project would have seen gas produced at a number of fields in the Southern Highlands of PNG and transported to Gladstone in central Queensland. But one of the project's leading partners effectively pulled the pin on the project today, announcing it was suspending work on the pipeline in favour of other projects in the region.
